To whom it may concern:

I am a 26 year old student who recently started my Master's Degree in Music Education at the University of Florida. Growing up in a lower-middle class family and trying to live and attend school at the University of Miami proved to be more costly than I imagined. After graduating, I became a low-paying teacher trying to pay all of my bills in a city with a very high cost of living. As a music teacher in a very low-income school, I also found myself buying necessary instruments and supplies for my students on my credit card. No funding was provided to me by my principal, so therefore, I ended up purchasing necessary supplies for my students on my own. On top of this, I tried to further my education by enrolling in Master's classes at Florida International University. After paying $800 each for 5 classes, the graduate program in Music Education was cancelled and I was out all of that money with no degree. This is what forced my to take a break from teaching to get my Master's Degree full time at the University of Florida. Car expenses have also been high since my Nissan Xterra was crushed by a tree during Hurricane Wilma and GEICO said they would not cover any of the cost. I try not to feel sorry for myself, but its terrible that all of these past experiences are what actually made me learn the important lessons of financial responsibility. Unfortunately, going to school full-time and only being able to work about 20 hours per week, the most I could afford right now is about $200 per month. If there is any way to put off payments higher that that until I graduate in May of 2008, it would be a sincere blessing. Thank you for your time and I appreciate any help that can be given.

Sincerely,

Nathan Bisco

Nathan, your reasons are genuine. I wonder why you purchased those instruments and supplied for the students when it was the responsibility of your school. Did they give you any assurance earlier that they will be reimbursing you later and didn't do it later?

The incidence about your Nissan Xterra at the Hurricane Wilma is also very unfortunate. Did you visit any other legal aid in your area for this compensation? The govt. has set grants in case of such calamities. It is very tragic that people don't get help during such times.
