I have seen a number of complaints about this company
on this site. These people are nothing but a
bunch of crooks. And that is putting it nicely.
They are trying to stick a judgment on me for over
$12,000 for accounts I never had. Plus, they never
served me with papers saying they were filing a law
suit. They are completely unethical. If anyone has
any suggestions on dealing with them, I'd appreciate
it.

Jackie, a judgment for a debt that never existed. It is really strange. But you must act quickly in solving this matter before they push it legally against you. They will try to get a default judgment on you at the court. As this debt has nothing to do with you, you will not pay attention towards it and that is what they expect from you. Seeing you not appearing in the court, the judge will rule out a default judgment against you because you didn't show up in the court.

Well, my advice is to visit a local attorney and explain this problem to him. Your immediate step should be to write a debt validation letter to the company for knowing out the details of the debt. They won't be able to give you any info about this, because the debt never existed (as you are sure about this). If Asset Acceptance pushes the matter in the court using fraudulent techniques, you will have sufficient proof of your actions to show in the court.
