I got myself into a bind about a year and a half ago when i got a divorce. I had returned from Iraq in the summer of 2004 and was separated shortly after in the fall. I was then removed from my house due to me living in military quarters and my ex wife was allowed to stay there. I in turn did not receive the housing allowence allowed for someone living off post due to my ex wife residing in on post quarters. That caused me to get loans to make it and to live above my means. I then again moved to a bigger house that was about the same price as the duplex i was living in. I moved a little further from my work and that added to the extra money being spent each month. With a larger house came more bills that i did not take into consideration when i moved. It was more f a move on impulse and i needed to get away from the place i was living in. I had that house broken into once before and some valuable items were taken, i.e. my laptop computer and case with software. I have since got a room mate who is splitting the bills with me but the damage had already been done and i have been living in the hole ever since. I would like to get some sort of consolidation loan to pay off some of my bills and only have a few to worry about where the amount of the payments saves me money each month. I am currently behind on some of my normal living expences like home phone, water/electric, gas and my varous credit style bills. My bank account is in the negative due to me paying the more important things and having money for gas and food to live off of until the next pay period. I have tried almost everything i can think of to applying for loans and coming up with a budget. I need to get out of this mess.

At this point, you are already in some debts, taking a new loan won't be a nice decision. Besides, legitimate loan companies will offer credit to only those who have good credit history. Those who offer loans to people having bad credit often turn out as scammers. And the most important thing you need to consider is to put something as collateral when taking a new loan.

You won't need to go through all these hassles if you involve a debt management program like credit counseling and pay off your debts. Easy monthly payments will be set for you at lower interest rates. Some extra fees can also be waived off. Talk to a counselor about your options. Someone will be calling you soon.

Meanwhile, go through the benefits of the consolidation program. This will sound helpful to you.

jag-welcome to the forums, you have come to the right place for help and support. First you need to take care of your most important and immediate needs, gas, water, shelter, etc.I would go to the bank in person and talk to a bank officer about your account and see what you can work out with them. Sometimes when you talk to these people in person,or phone,if you can't,they know you aren't trying to dodge them. Explain your situation to them and the utilities and see what they can do. There are churches and other agencies that will help with utilities and food. Check all available resources to see what you can do to get some help. Someone will contact you about your othet debts. Consolidation will help by lowering interest, having one payment instead of many, and put a halt to collection calls. It takes some time to do this, but it can be done. Feel free to read others posts to see how they are working on becoming debt free. Good Luck-keep us posted...Karen :D
