I got my first credit card in college. Started
with a low available credit with easy monthly
payments.Over time the amount available
increased as well as the payments. Now i am
in over my head.

Hi Sonia! You've come to the right place for help. New members to the forum receive a free consultation with a debt counselor, so you should be receiving a call soon. The counselor can discuss your situation and explain the options available to help get you back on track. The consultation is well worth it.

This is what I think..You started with a minimum available credit. Over a period of time, you got more credit into your account and with that the payments also increased. This happened because you used your credit excessively. Credit companies are doing business. They want to earn from the customers. When they went through your file, they realized that it will be good to give you more credit so that you can do your purchasing comfortably. Now you are having problems in paying them off and they are charging their fees and interests in order to run their business. My advice for you in the future is to try to control your expenses. Spend only that much you can manage on your credit. Over spending will cause problems only and that too with a price to pay.

For the time being, credit counseling will be a good choice. Get started.
