I was doing ok with my credit cards because I had some good deals at 1.9 or 2.9 % apr for the life of the loan. I had a few bad months went over my limit and my apr jumped to 24%. Chase has not been willing to lower the rate so I have been struggling ever since. I have rental property and my tenants were late with some rent payments because their case workers screwed up the paper work. I am still waiting on money from DSS for my tenants. So the government messes me up on one end and Gargantuan Banks like chase mess me up on the other - who is looking out for me?

You should start negotiating with the company for a lower interest rate. Get some help in the 'do it yourself' section at http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/diy/

Tell them that you can complete the payments within few months, but you need lower interest rates for this. If this doesn't work, talk to a debt counselor for professional help.
