Well I used to be able to pay my bills on time. But I had gotten sick in 2003 with a rare kidney disease and 9 months later ended on dialysis and wasnt working as much. Money started getting tight, I needed food and heating oil, christmas for my daughter and medicines stuff like that and bills got ran up. I started getting back on track around July of 2005. Bills were back on track though I still owed a lot of money but at least bills were paid on time. Then I got the transplant and my wife got her hours severly cut so now I barely have enough money to pay my bills. I pay a couple of creditors but for the most part its mortgage, electric, car, car insurance. One of the debts just sent a letter that they might turn me over to a lawyer but I have explained to them that I don't have the money to pay them right now and when I do I will pay them. That isnt good enough for them and they get nasty. By the way its MBNA im sure you heard of them. Other companyies are starting to do this too but are not being as harsh. I also checked into a debt management program that MBNA referred called TakeChargeAmerica but they basically told me I don't make enough to pay off my debt...go figure, I think I realized that from the reason I called them in the first place. So basically my credit is shot now and I have no where to turn I wanted to avoid bankruptcy but it looks like the direction I may have to go just to get some relieve. I havent been able to sleep in months and everytime my phone rings im afraid its another bill collector. PLEASE HELP...

I am sorry to hear that you are going through rough times. Trust me, it will not stay forever. Times will change and you will have good times again. At this moment, you need to be strong enough and get some job so that you are able to roll your expenses and pay the monthly bills.

Take a free consultation quote. If consolidation is not the choice for you because of the monthly payments, a debt settlement program even offers lower monthly payments than the former. You maybe able to catch up with the payments in this plan before you have to decide for bankruptcy. Explain your situation to the consultant. He will assure that everything will be ok. If they have dealt with MBNA and other creditors in the past, it will be all good. Get started.
