You need to be careful with storefront lenders. If you are dealing with internet lenders, check the company's licensing in your state and the laws.
How much have you paid on the accounts? It is advised to let your lenders know that you are unable to make the payments at this time and will like some arrangements to be done for you. If you can pay them a little amount every month, they will work with you. Don't let it go in default completely otherwise a debt collector will do aggressive collections later. The whole things will get complicated. You may try and take control now.

Have you closed your account yet? You may need to do this and open a new one, it is what most here have had to do to gain back control. Which companies are you dealing with?

By chance, when you say a lot, have you checked if you have paid the full amount by now? If this is done, you owe nothing. You just have to put your state laws to the lenders and get the account closed and get the PIF in writing.

Here is the link to Pollys pdl settlement letter. You will need to insert your state's pdl laws. If you have already paid back the principal and legal interest rates then demand they mark your account paid in full. Also you must file complaints against each of the internet pdls you are dealing with, with your AGs office.

Kansas City Missouri, as well as Kansas City, Kansas is the metropolis of internet payday lenders. The laws in those state's suck.
Please share what company's that you owe too. Hopefully they are not Kansas City based companies, because most of them are licensed.

Can PDL agencies garnish wages from my employment if I do shut down my bank account and try to make arrangements with the companies for repayment? My direct deposit is down to half my income because of my silly mistake of accepting PDL's. Now I have junk email from other companies. It's insane. I wish I never got caught in this mess.

Payday loans can only garnish your wages if they take you to court and get a judgement against you. Most online payday loans won't go that far because half of them are illegal and they overcharge on interest. Now some companys may make you sign a voluntary wage assignment and that can be revoked with a simple letter. Since you have registered with the sight a counselor will be calling you to dicuss your options. Have you tried making payment arrangements with any of your lenders, the main thing you want to do is keep in contact with them.
Also unsubscribe to all the offers that do come in, so you won't see them and be tempted to get more.

I know storefront lenders are quick in filing a case if they are following the laws properly. Most internet loan companies do not follow the laws in the borrowers' state while lending the loan. A company must have a legitimate reason about your avoiding the repayments and they are adding the charges correctly in your state. Try to find out if your case is weak and if you are dealing with the storefront lenders, you need to be a little cautious from them.
