We want to be able to pay our bills and still afford groceries a month. A collection agency is garnishing my husbands wages 25% because i told them we couldnt afford 80 a month and wanted to work out something if we could. They said i wasnt working with them, But i had called several times trying to work something out with them.. Now we cant afford the basic necessities.. Please help..

Can you please elaborate the situation? For what debts is the collection agency garnishing your husband's wages? Student loans and federal debts don't require court orders before the wages are set to garnish. But for all other debts, the company has to get court orders before wages are garnished. Have you checked with the local county if you missed any court date and because of this, a default judgment was put against you?
