Are you working at all right now? Have you talked to the loan company and try to work things out directly with them, they certainly are not gonna want to lose out, so maybe they will come up with a temporary solution like letting you make just intrest payments for a few months.

Yes, you have run into some bad luck. Unfortunately that sometimes happen. When the debt counselor calls you (as a result of registering here) you can discuss maybe debt consolidation of some sort. Debt consolidation would probably lower your payments and make it a bit easier for you.
