Just a question - do you indeed owe money to AT&T Wireless? If so, it will be difficult to take anyone to court over the fact that you owe a valid debt.
If you don't owe the debt, please come back and clarify your post with a little more detail - perhaps we can offer some tips to help you out.

Sounds like this debt file was purchased by a junk debt buyer who is trying to take you to court over it.
Have you received any actual court papers showing a court date, etc.? If not, I would not worry about it - they are trying to collect on something they can't legally collect.
When you say you have letters from Palisades & Wolpoff/Abramson, are you saying you have collection letters from them asking you to pay them? Or are these letters saying the debt was paid in full?
If you have proof that the debt was paid, then you're well within your rights to tell these people to go fly a kite.
