First thank you for this site! I just found out that a company called Northway Debit debited my account for two payments of $410. After looking at the other posts on this site I noticed that it is the same name as Sonic Pay Day. I am furious, I had other checks coming through my account that will all be returned not to mention other debits. I don't know what to do! I called my bank and they suggested closing the account but what do I do with the other checks that are supposed to clear that I barley had enough money to cover in the first place? And- my future bill payments that I have set up through this account, I am lost. They have put a stop payment on the account for the transactions as well as an account investigation. Until this is resolved I am looking at 4 checks bouncing and not getting products I ordered, the embarressment of a bounced check through my church and others, I just can't believe this. I never authorized this, in fact I told them I wouldn't have the money when it was due on last Friday. If I had paid them by Western Union as requested, I would have been out of $1600.00. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Does anyone know what steps I should take to make sure they don't try this again, or get any money? Will Stop payment work? And Should I close the account?

If closing your account is an option, you must do it right away. You can't trust a company like Northway Debit AKA Sonic Payday. They have recently violated many state and federal laws. Not a single person dealing with them has got satisfactory results. Basically, the company is out to scam people largely. You must use tremendous caution when dealing with Sonic Payday.

Don't panic. There is still a solution now that you have fallen into it. Talk to your bank and block the company's transaction ID through which they process their payment from your account. Your bank has this information and they can simply block it. If this is done, Northway Debit will not be able to take out any money even by using different amounts. This has worked with many people. You should also do the same. Stop payment is valid for six months only and there are NSF fees that your bank will charge. If you are thinking of closing the account, contact the other companies who are supposed to receive money from you. Make arrangements with them before the due date so that you can close your account. Figure out the best option that suits to your situation.

Thanks so much for your help. I am sure that I wont be able to contact all of the companies I have outstanding checks with in time, and I am not sure how to cover that. I spoke with my employer to see if I can have my automatic deposit changed to another account or to paper checks until I can correct this, But that will take two paydays. I am also seeing if I can get an advance on my pay so I can cover my basic living exspenses. If I close the account I am in trouble, if I don't Im in trouble. I feel like I am in a deep hole with no way out.

Dont care what state you are in report it to your Attorney General. Consumer division. Also go to http://www.paydayloaninfo.org and look up your state laws. The more complaints the better. KYSIDE38

These ppl are creeps and they don't care who you are. They will jerk money out of your acct. no matter how many times you tell them it's not gonna be there. I have been ripped off with several PDL companies and PDL are illegal in my state. I am in the process of getting refunds from a few of them, but really don't know how long it will take or if it will even work. Good luck and keep us updated on what happens...
