It really starts when I was 18 and got a job at Macy's. I got a card to help build my credit, and also so I could "afford" work clothes. A friend told me that "you can't build credit with a department store card", so I applied for several "student" cards.

I was doing all right with keeping my balances low, until I left for school in another state.

All of a sudden I'm on my own, responsible for rent, power, water, gas, food, AND phone. It was an eye opener to say the least. I enjoyed being a "grownup", but I found it hard to afford the basics on a part time minimum wage job. I ended up using my credit cards a bit more then I should.

I though the addition of roommates would help...boy was I wrong.

At first it was good and I was able to start paying down some of the debt I had gained...then about a six months into the roommate living I got bill for two of my cards, and they where both maxed out. It turned out that my roommate had taken them from where I hid them.

I ended up moving back into my parents house, to get out of that situation and save money.

So anyway last April my employer closes down the department I worked in, and I get put on call in the other department I helped out in. This brings my 40 hour work weeks to 5 hours...when I'm lucky.

I began to pick and choose the bills to pay, and ended up defaulting on several of my higher balanced cards. Now one of them is getting ready to sue me, another is starting to threaten suing me, the calls start at 8:00 in the morning, they don't end until almost 9:30 at night, and I just can't seem to find a new job willing to give me more hours.
