my husband had a car repo'd when he went to jail for a dui offense. now we're trying to get his credit back on track, and get his loan amount for the car paid off, but the bank through which he got the loan through went out of business, and it wasnt turned over to a collection agency. the problem is, it's still on his credit report and whenever i call the number listed under that account- it's disconnected.
is there anything at all that we could do?

Send a dispute form to the 3 major credit reporting agencies. I
Send a dispute form to the 3 major credit reporting agencies. If they can not verify the information they should remove it from your report. You can find sample letters by searching this site.
