Please tell us a little more about your situation. Are these storefront lenders or online. Also if you can tell us who you owe, someone who has had success in dealing with them may be able to help. Since you have registered with this site you will be receiving a call from someone who will be able to give you free debt counseling.

Hi, welcome to the forums!
Asking for help is the first step in becoming debt free. Staying away from the payday loans is another. They are high interest short-term loans, that are really useless. Asking a friend or family member to help you might be an option. Maybe they could pay off one, and you pay off one at the same time. How many do you have altogether?
Are you currently on any type of financial aid? Since your husband left, you may qualify for some sort of food and housing assistance. Talking with a case worker at FIA will get you on your way. WIC is another program if your children are small enough. Churches give out free food all the time. Anything that helps you save up money is a big plus. That way you will be debt free sooner.
I'd also like to know if you have defaulted on any of your loans? Are they in collections? And are any of them still trying to hit your checking account?
Regards
Mike

Hi Adishman,
The advice given above is awesome. You can use some of the tips because it will help you in saving your useful money.
I will also add that when you are reviewing your credit report copies from all the three bureaus, find out the date of last activities. It may happen that some of the accounts might have gone out of the SOL period. If this happens, you can legally refuse to pay anything by notifying the credit companies about the expiry of the SOL.
Cash Advances
Hey gang, I had a bunch of cash advances last year and had to end up closing my account because me and my boys could hardly survive..I sent all of the companies a letter and all of them except for two ..they both stated that they did not receive the letter and attempted to debit my account anyway..well of course the account was closed so they hit me with a NSF and continued to for several pay periods..when I called them and offered to set up arrangements but they wanted my new banking info..I declined to do that so they were both real rude and threatened to send me to collection..well here it is almost one year ago and those two are on my credit report..so be carful gang..cash advances are a nightmare..

Hello,
I've visited your site several times over the past couple of weeks, read random posts and I keep coming back to visit. It humbles me to share my testimony at this time, and my wish is that it will calm many people's fears.
I, too, have past and present experiences with PDL companies. In my arrogance, I was of the opinion that PDL companies were for desperate people who didn't know how to manage their finances. How ironic, because I've been desperate and don't manage my finances well. One day, my curiosity got the best of me & I will never forget the first time I got up the nerve to go into a Check'n Go office; it was 2/06. I was nervous, yet comfortable at the same time. The employees were professional and courteous, the office was very neat and clean. I asked many questions and everything was explained to me thoroughly. I was reluctant, but decided on a $50 payday advance, with the understanding that there was a fee of $25 and to make my check out for $75. I remember commenting on how steep that was, but I wanted to take a risk, a gamble if you will; I didn't need the money whatsoever. I had this feeling that they would be coming after me if I didn't pay it back within their 2 week time allotment. I was so nervous all week that I paid it back the very next week. To tell you the honest truth, the Check 'n Go that I patronized was the only PDL company that I've ever felt comfortable with. Sadly, I've become very dependant on PDL companies over the past, although not intentionally. I mismanaged my finances to the point that my rent and car payment were running late every month, although neither one have ever rolled over; I had never been late with my rent or car payment before. Pretty soon, I started borrowing from another PDL, then another, and another,to play catch up; let me tell you from experience, IT WILL NOT HAPPEN. I now have 8 PDL's outstanding at $300 each; 6 walk-ins and 2 online. The 2 that are online didn't have my authorization to debit my account, but did anyway. To add insult to injury, I became a victim of Online Identity Theft. If you've never been a victim of Identity Theft, I'm here to tell you that it's one of the worst things that a person will ever experience in a lifetime. My bank has been wonderful, Customer Support handled everything, reversed the PDL unauthorized debits and overdraft fees, stopped all debit transactions from the PDL's. Finally, after 3 weeks of some of the worst stress that I've ever been under, I was able to close my checking account. Needless to say, the 2 online PDL's are not pleased; in fact, I've just received an e-mail this afternoon from TJF that my account is now with an outside collection agency; that is the least of my worries. I had selected to pay by mail with no given authorization for either company to debit my account, but they did anyhow; not the full amounts, just the interest; they both did rollovers without my permission. One company is
1-TJF CORPORATION,for BAHAMAS MARKETING GROUP, located in the Bahamas, to my understanding.Anyone who is reading my post and has had experience with this group, I welcome your replies, suggestions and a physical contact address.
The other company, goes by the name of
LOANSHOP NORTHBAY,located in Delaware; their Phone # 1-800-859-6439, should anyone need this information. With all that I've been through in the past 18 months, especially these past 3 weeks,my ultimate goal will be to get these PDL's paid in full, even if it's on the honor system of $25 per week for each PDL. What I've done, and this may help many people that are reading my post, I've done the following:
I composed a form letter of intent to pay.
That I'd first pay the NSF fee of $15
Following would be the interest fee of $45.
Then I would pay the principal balance of in monthly installments until the loans are satisfied.
I advised each company that I am aware, as posted in each PDL office that "I CANNOT BE CRIMINALLY PROSECUTED"
I sent copies of my letter, with copies of their letters sent to me. CERTIFIED WITH RETURN GREEN CARD. Ironically, the only return green card I've yet to receive is from Check 'n Go. I've not been harrassed anymore, by mail or phone. The best advice that I can give to any of you is what I've personally done to help myself. NONE of my loans are satisfied; in fact I've not began paying anything, because, with counseling and workshops, I'm slowly but joyfully, coming out of a depression resulting from this mess I've gotten myself into. Also, I'm out on temporary state disability from my job for another issue. I will keep the lines of communication open with all 8 PDL's and advise them of my situation via CERTIFIED MAIL. Always keep the lines of communication opened with these companies; be strong, be up front with them,ADVISE THEM OF YOUR CONSUMER RIGHTS and don't allow anyone to intimidate you. Keep in mind that the District Attorneys in any state where PDL's are allowed, will not take on any PDL company to collect debts; they do not and will not be a collection agency. As you read this, some of you may wonder:
Do I get anxious about any of 1this? Absolutely.
Am I ever afraid that they may come after me? Sure.
Am I angry about the financial mess that I've caused myself? All the time.
Do I go to bed thinking about it and wake up thinking about it? Every night and every morning.
Will I resolve it and close this horrible chapter in the book of my life? No doubt about it.
Thank you and chat back with me, if you'd like.
