That is very illegal. And I doubt they are going to beat you up. But I know it is very frustrating and scary when somebody is calling and making threats. One called me and told me that they would call my children's school and come and remove them. I said wonderful, this sounds like extortion, and good luck with your attempts. I asked that what type of company would spend that kind of money on air fare, and throw away their freedome over me? These guys are idiots. And think we are stupid enough to fall for their threats. I would actually love it if one of them threatened me with bodily harm. I would ask them to tell me where to meet them. Idiots.

And I would also add the following:
Before you do ANYTHING else, pick up the phone and make a police report. They are threatening you with bodily harm and the guy was stupid enough to confirm it--and the next time the douchebags call, see if you can record the call, or get someone else to listen in on an extension.
This way, you have a witness and you are covered by that police report. FIGHT BACK!!!!!!!

Check in your state where you can record the debt collector phone calls without actually having to take their permission. If these threats continue, you will need to take legal actions and stop them from doing this again in the future. Go strike them back strongly and use your legal rights so that they know what happens when messing up with the wrong person. The threats done to you are violations that are clear put in the FDCPA. You will get a strong case if you can prove this with a recorded statement. They will be forced to pay you for the damages after losing the case.

I think in OH you need their permission unless they leave a message on voice mail or answering machine.

Oh kscornell, you were thinking the same thing when I was composing that post. Making a police complaint is a must in this case. The complaints must also be put at the AG's office, FTC and the BBB.

Just record the darn phone calls! If youre not allowed to in your state use them to write out the conversation verbatum. You just have a really good memory.......

I also doubt that if you finally allow ther police to hear the convo theyll have you charged... if someone is threatening you with harm you have a right to protect yourself and to obtain proof. These jerks have clearly been doing this to many people from many companies. The governmwents hasnt done a thing about it and they arte getting away with lying, stealing, identity theff, threats.....
Do what you can to bring down these @$$holez!!!!!!!!!!
