A woman leaves an automated voice message giving you her hours to call back. this is the number she gives you on the message. The above number shows up on the caller ID.
1-800-688-3370
I called it back and the message says its NCO systems. since I'm not dealing with NCO, I'm wondering what they want. Maybe one of the Dell accounts got sold to them. well, it has to be Dell or wells Fargo. All of my other accounts are being paid, or paid off. Anyone know what NCO specializes in? haven't there been some complaints against them?? I haven't received anything in the mail from NCO just several phone calls here and there over the past couple of months. Its always the same message. I guess now I take my own advice, and get their address and send validaton request.

collection agencies can only collect on a valid debt. If the debt is missing the accurate information or is in dispute, you have the rights to add it in your credit report. Stop the collection agency from bothering you by sending a debt validation letter and give you the exact details of your account in writing. If they call repeated times, you know you have to paste the ???cease and desist' rule on them.
NCO has paid the largest collection penalty because of false representation of the consumer accounts. If you are being contacted by them, use all your legal rights directed in the fdcpa. Read this article published in the FTC website to know more on this company.

thanks John!!! I will slap them with a validation request--since I haven't gotten anything in writing and have no idea what they're calling about---and also add in the cease phone call line on them. Shirley

Yes, maybe the collection agency will contact you with a dunning letter. Don't ignore it. Respond it immediately with your dispute. Knowledge is your best weapon against debt collection harassment. You have now known your rights pretty well. And the collection agency should know it very well that you know them. After talking to you, they will realize that they should not have contacted you unless they have a valid reason. You have learned so much about the techniques of debt collections. Perhaps, now you will be able to distinguish a valid call from a fake one.
