can a judgment that is filed agains you also put a lein on your house??

In IL at least, once a judgment creditor has a judgment then they can fill out what's called a "Memorandum of Judgment". Judge puts his stamp on it certifying it is accurate, and then creditor would pay $26 to file the Memo of Judgment with the County Recorder. After that, it would be recorded as a lien on any real estate you own in that county.
