my car was recently repo'd, i have no income, no way to pay the deficiency, and nothing for colaterol the loan is in Cailfornia, i now live in Illinois. what will happen??

It will also depend on the company the car was financed through and sometimes how long you were paying on it. I have had two cars repo'd and one threatens to have a judgement put against me and garnish my wages and the other i was almost done paying off and i have never heard anything from them. You will usually get a letter after your car is repo'd stating the different options that you will have available.

A friend of mine had her car repoed a few years ago. They will sell your car at auction and apply that to your loan, whatever is left, you will be reponsible for, they will also add on fees for storage and towing. They took 6 months to sell her car,and they left her alone until then, after they sold it they sent her a letter telling her to make payment arangements for the balanced owed.If they sell the car for more than the whats owed on the loan, they must by law, give you the diffence.

Fran,

When they came and got your car, did they tell you where you could pick up your personal items in the car? Most of the time they will store it for around 45 days in order for you to be able to retrieve it. If you have not retrieved it by the 45 days, you will lose your personal items that were in your car.
