I am having problems working with the payday loan companies in nc. I have 7 outstanding payday loans and these companies are not willing to work with us what should i do?

I currently hold 7 payday loans. At a point in June I ran into trouble and needed to get quick money to atted a funeral in CT. I have loans with

payday-loan-yes $300
cahstransferceters $300 they want $427
littleloansoppe $200
e-payday-loan $250
pandavance $400
500fastcash $300
invicity $200

As I was trying to pay them back they started trying to debit at times that were not set up, they finally put me $700 in the hole with my bank which led to me cancelling that account. Now I am stuck and don't know what to do since they will not work with me on payments they want it all in full which is not going to happen.

Fourchildren ~ technically they should have never lent you the money in the first place because payday loans are prohibited in the state of North Carolina. I am also in NC and had payday loans out.

As was asked, have you paid anything back to any of these companies yet and if so how much has been paid back?

Provide this information and we can help you get out of this situation.

Sorry for not getting back to everyone sooner. It has gotten really busy the past couple of days for me.

Here is what I did on my payday loans, besides coming to this site.

1. I filed complaints against these companies with the Attorney Generals office and with the BBB.

2. I wrote letters to each of my payday loan lenders and informed them that I was revoking my authorization to debit my account (I included my account and routing number and my loan number on those that I had it for). In the same letter, I revoked authorization to contact my employer or place of employment as well as any wage assignment. (do include the revocation to include your references.) In this letter I stated how much I had borrowed and how much I had paid back to date (which I had over paid all of them) and requested a refund of the over paid amount. I also copy and pasted the NC law regarding payday loans and made sure they understood that payday loans were prohibited in the state of NC. I told them that even though they will say that they are not doing business in NC, they are by contacting me in NC, giving me a loan in NC and taking money out of my account, per the AG's office. I sent these letters via email and printed a copy of them off for myself.

3. I took copies of these letters to my bank and put stops to the ACH debits from these companies. I had to do this every week and have the transactions reversed and could not close my account until it came into the positive. If you can close your account, do it and open another one, and I recommend someplace other than where you are banking now.

Every day I emailed these people by saying emailing 2nd time, 3rd time, etc. Some were very nasty with me and some I did not have any problems with. You will get some nasty emails and possible some nasty phone calls, but know that they cannot do anything to you. They cannot have you arrested, you are not going to jail, all they can do is threaten you. These places know they are operating illegally and will do everything they can to scare you into paying them more money. If you are working, even though it might be a little embarrassing, talk to your employer and HR departments and let them know what is going on. Most people are pretty understanding. Most importantly is to stay strong. Do some reading on what some of these places will try. Knowledge is a powerful weapon. I managed to get all the words in and not let some of these places say anything and hung up on them.

Oh, one other thing I forgot to tell you that I added to my emails...I informed these places that I would only communicate via email or USPS. This way I would have copies of what has transpired between the two of us for the Attorney General.

Hang in there though....It will all work out.

But I do recommend trying to pay them back at least the principal. I feel that is really the right thing to do and if you can get a mailing address to do this, send them a MO (do not send a check!), send it certified or registered with a return receipt. Same if you send the letters by way of USPS.
