I have been paying Riscuity a bill collector for about 9 months. Suddenly they stopped sending me invoices. I stopped paying. they called me up and said I had to pay and that "we don't send invoices anymore." I continued not to pay, they called, I told them get me an invoice...all to no avail. Is this legal? I think they are shady. Someone else on your forum said Riscuity threatened him/her with arrest if they didn't pay. A fake detective called me too at one time. Who are these people in the Philipines? I think it sounds suspect. Are they allowed to just stop sending invoices and statements? I am sending a written request. What else should I do?
Thanks!

Hi raggamuffinstinkyfoot

You must have received the invoices if you already had been receiving in the past. Don't get scared of the threats made by Riscuity. Send a letter in writing requesting for the information. As per the fdcpa law, the collection agencies are bound to put everything in writing before attempting collections.

I will also suggest you to call up the original creditor and make an arrangement with them. It will be much easier dealing with them instead of the CA. Explain your problems faced with the collection agency. I am sure the creditor will be willing to work out something for you.

Hi David! thanks for the reply but the whole point of the story is that all along they had been sending invoices and SUDDENLY they stopped. When I inquired why, Jason, (so-called, probably fake name) at the company said "oh, we don't send bills and statements out anymore." He said he didn't know why when I questioned him. Very wierd. I think this company is not on the up and up, despite their protestations on this forum to the contrary.

Thanks for clarifying the fdcpa law, which I read to mean they must BILL me monthly if they want money. I wrote to them yesterday and we'll see. I don't want to call the creditor because they are the worst company in the country (beside AOL) to deal with!

Thanks again,
RMSF
