I am receiving threatening emails from Nationwide Cash Advance in New Mexico. I had to put a stop payment on my account. They are threating criminal prosecution for a bad check, can they do this ? I live in Ohio.

This was an internet payday loan. And no you can not be arrested in OH for a defaulted payday loan. You need to go online and file a complaint with OH's Attorney General's office. This company isn't licensed in OH. If you have already paid back the principal and legal interest rate OH allows for a pdl, state that the only resolution to the matter is to have your account marked Paid In Full by this company. Also, it is illegal to threaten arrest or criminal charges, if you have this stated in your email from this company attatch a copy of the email in your complaint made with the AG's office. Don't worry, YOU WILL NOT BE ARRESTED, they are LYING and trying to scare you.
