Being Sued For 1996 Credit Card Debt

My wife has just been named as a defendant for a 1996 credit card debt. The card was obtained in Illinois and now she resides in Ohio. How can this be? Hasn't the Statutes of limitation run out?

Unfortunately, the SOL hasn't run in Ohio where it is 15 years (among the longest in the country). It doesn't matter where the card was obtained, it is where she resides now.
