How can I make use of the 'Opt Out' Option in my credit report?

‘Opt Out’ option enables you to get your name removed by the credit bureau from any pre-approved credit offers. These companies market their new credit card accounts while looking for potential consumers. If you qualify for the pre-approved offer, you will be notified through mail, phone call or email.

To ‘opt out’ from this, please contact the credit bureau and after sending the request, your name will be removed from all the three agencies. You can also opt out by visiting the official website of these bureaus.

Hi Josiane

Welcome to the forums.

If you use the Opt Out option, you can only be able to stop the pre-approved credit card offers coming at your end. You will have to contact the credit bureaus for this purpose.

However, Opting out will not stop any collection agency or creditors who have valid reasons to view your file. Contact each of them and work out a payment plan. This will be your best move to improve your credit ratings.
