Hi HarrassedbySallie
Welcome to the forums.
The content put in this cease and desist letter is giving the utmost legal importance and forcing to stop all the collection efforts.
In my opinion, this kind of letter should be sent only on such occasions when all other methods have failed. This is a powerful weapon and should be used with valid reasons.
If a person owes a debt, he should consider paying it at the first place. There might be problems relating to financial difficulties but a cease a desist letter does not evade the debt at all. Legal actions can still be taken if required. I opine sending this letter only when the company has come up to all sorts of harassments, illegal actions and not complying with the consumers.

As per the laws laid down in the fdcpa, you are allowed to receive collection calls between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.
You might be receiving calls from different departments of Sallie Mae and if you have asked one department to stop calling you, I am assuming that your information has not reached the other departments.
Since you are facing this harassment for months and have not been given specific information about any debt account, you must take legal counsel.
