I owe about 2000$ in payday loans, each site says if you close yoru bank account they will rport you for fraud so will they really do that. cause i dont have the money in the bank and they keep trying to take it and when the bank returns it i get charged for the return by them and the bank. i need help with this please and thank you!!

You will feel better after closing your account. Read others in the thread below who have done the same thing.

Try to arrange a payment plan with the lenders directly. Don't give out your new bank information to them. Write a payment proposal and advance some money along with it. They might be interested in accepting your plan.

Personally speaking, I would more than welcome them to charge me with fraud! Heck,I would even give them the address to my local court house!

Are your lenders store front or online? If they are online chances are they are not licensed, and can not charge you with anything--if they took you to court, they'd be charged with lending withoutu a license.

Have you looked up your state laws on PDL lending yet? Which state do you live in?

United Cash Loans is now using the Miami, OK address. They are no longer receving mail at the Carson City, Nevada address. They are under heavy investigation in VA, NV and several other states for their making loans in states without a license. Alot of these companies use bogus addresses to keep people from finding out where they actually are.

It's a law firm, not a collection agency. Their address is:

Margolis, Pritzker , Epstein & Blatt, P.A.
Address: 405 E. Joppa Rd.
Suite 100
Towson, MD 21286-5487
Phone: (410) 823-2222
Fax: (410) 337-0098

Check the date of last payment on this account. The SOL in VA is for 3 years. Has this law firm hit your credit file?

Damaris,

Just an update. New York passed a law a couple of years ago that make payday loans illegal whether online or in-store.

I would advise you to contact the PDL Lender and advise them of this and work out either a payment plan or obtain a refund and close the account, noting it "Paid in Full".

I am new to this site and have been reading the post about the payday loans. Which I have store front and internet. I am in TN. How do you deal with the store front loans. I have heard everyone talking about the internet ones.

I think store front loans are safer because they cannot claim to be from another state with weak PDL laws.

Anyone catch that one thread where a store front PDL took someone to court and the judge ordered a refund instead due to the high interest/penalties that were already paid?

kevntn, talk to your lenders and make them aware about your payment plans. If they are ready to work with you without any problems, there won't be a need to close your bank account. But, if they debit your account even after you have done an arrangement with them, you can change your account number after notifying your bank.

These morons have been calling me for over a year! Probably once or twice a day. At first it annoyed me, now it's kind of funny...I never took a loan out with them, they refuse to send me any kind of paperwork with loan terms, amount, etc...I reported them to the district attorney in nebraska already, and I checked with my state's banking department and they are not licensed in my state. The one thing I found interesting about them is that it would appear that they are owned by a native american tribe, and they are claiming immunity for all the illegal means they have been using to collect money. Has anyone else heard about this? It was started by a court order in CA.
