Was it the actual payday loan company or a 3rd party debt collector? Did you inform them verbally that calls to your employer placed your employment in jeopardy? What state do you live in? This question would likely be better suited for a labor law attorney and not this particular forum but hopefully someone here has some experience with this sort of thing.

1. OP would have to prove who and when PDL was and called. Also, prove that "this" was the reason for termination.
2. If an online lender, you have to be able to find the company to serve.
3. Based on the first 2 items, the cost would be pretty high.

I agree with NASCAR, you might wast to call the EEOC and ask them if you employer can fire you for that reason. Then I would contact a lawyer who deal with emloyment law. But if you are in a state the the employment is "AT-WILL" then you might not have a leg to stand on.
