Interesting article. I guess there would have to be more investigation to see if in fact the companies ARE owned and operated by the tribes? My own personal question, if they ARE owned by the tribes, why do they always deny it when you talk to them, isn't that giving misrepresentation/misleading information of some sort?

that is what i found out,and part of the reason these places won't take legal action.the tribe won't grant there "immunity" in those cases.they can keep claiming their bogus link to the tribe.when i actually see one of these places do something other than a WAGE ASSIGNMENT not a garnishment,or other legal action.in fact the next time any of these places do something like mentioned above.will be the first time.

Aubrey,

Send them a letter stating that you are aware they are illegal lenders. Therefore you only owe them the principal amount borrowed, and you have already overpaid. Demand them to mark the debt paid in full. In this letter tell them you are also forwarding a copy to the FTC, BBB, FBI, and your Attorney General.

They are already being investigated by all of the above.
Do not pay them another dime! Close your account if you have to, although sometimes a hard debit block will work.

I've done all that and it worked out very well thanks to the help I received here. I was just worrying that they would come after me for the full amount if they were "tied to the tribe". As it is, I only owe Fast Cash $30 and I've overpaid One Click. I owe NPDL $30. One I got a refund from and I'm fighting with Eastside Lenders. Heard from WebPayDay yesterday, but I resent my original letter. They owe me a refund.

changed my mailing address; cell phone number - not getting phone calls. Had a few at work; told them they couldn't call me and hung up.

Was just worried about the whole Indian tribe scenario. Thanks.
