I have 3 internet pay day loans.

SSM - OSLO Marketing - $300.00 paid $360.00
Ashland-Crestwood - $300.00 paid $360.00
Star Cash - $300.00 paid $270.00

I am in Minnesota are these legal. I have closed my account, opened a new account, moved my direct deposit. I have sent Cease and Desist letters. I had to stop this in part because I lost my job. I also sent a revoke of wage assignment and ACH revocation. I only did the wage assignment because I get 2 more checks.

My employer also disconnected my telephone and gave me a brand new extension for the remainder of the time I am there. My old extension will ring busy and never go anywhere so that works out fine. Front desk it ready.

What else can I and how much do I owe them.

Cease & Disist letters are useless to the original creditor. They are for the 3rd party collections. Also useless to illegal lenders. I think all 3 of your lenders are not licensed therefore making them illegal. You have things taken care of at your job and you have secured your funds by closing your account.

I think now you should send each a debt validation letter. Include in the letter "how can you validate that I owe a debt if you are not licensed and illegal to lend?"

well then following that logic- you don't validate an original creditor either-thats for third party collectors.

When dealing with legal lenders you would'nt use a c & d but with the illegal anything that might work is worth a try. Start with reading the sticky on dealing with illegal lenders. The very first post has step by step instructions including links to sample letters you can send. Feel free to ask any questions you have!
