Hi, I have 8 PDls with 7 different companies. They have all been default since June when I closed my bank account in preparation for handing things over to Langhorne. I backed out at the last minute because of bad reports I heard, and my loans have just been in total default ever since. I am getting ready to pay some of these off within the next three months, but I need to know which ones are legal and which are not.
Ace Cash Express - $440
Check and Go - $400
Check and Go - $563
500FastCash - $510
CashNetUSA - $243
I also had loans with Pack Mgmt and CMG Group, which I know to be illegal and whom I know I only owe $20 each. They've turned me over to this William J Sokol "lawyer" who has been pestering me for months but appears to be all bark and no bite.
I have a 7th loan, but I have no idea who it's with! I filled out loans apps and they just sent me an e-mail announcing they were depositing $150 in my account. Which they did but that was all I ever heard from them. They've never even contacted me about defaulting that I know of. I have a new phone since all this happened and I'm not giving the # out so maybe they've tried my old phone. I don't have the original e-mail anymore. All I know is that it has the word Ace in the name, but it was not Ace Cash Express, but it was trying to look like them, you know? Does this sound familiar?
I feel like I should tackle Ace Cash Express and Check & Go first because they're legit. I think CashNet is legit, but I'm not sure about 500FastCash. Any info would be appreciated!

500fastcash is NOT legal. You need to close your account asap! The other lenders are legal, except since you do not know the name of one of the accounts, I can't make a determination as to whether they are legal or not. As far as paying back the legal ones, yes, you need to make arrangements to do so, they can and will eventually sue you.

Have you ever received a dunning letter (letter of collection) via the mail from William J Soko? If not, you need to tell them you will not discuss this alleged debt to a voice on the phone, and as required by the federal law (FDCPA) they are required to send you one within 5 days of their first initial contact with you.

If you have already received a letter of collection via the mail then you have pretty much given up your right to request debt validation, which must be requested within 30 days of receipt.
