ACE check cashing

I had taken out a payday loan from ACE in Dec. of 2008. I paid it back in cash in January of 2009. I attempted to go into the office where I took the loan to pay it back, but the office had a post it note saying they were closed. So I had the cash and was attempting to find another office. They put the check through my bank and it came back ins. funds. Kicker is I had the cash, that is why it was declined. Anyway, I just got 3 threatening phone calls. They give me their names, and their "law firm names", but say that I am being federally investigated for fraud, and they are going to put a warrant out for my arrest. I looked on Ace's website and it says I owe $78.00. I called and confirmed this with them. They told me to call NCA to find out who the account was sold to, which I did. They gave me the number to SKW. I tried to reach someone there but got a voicemail. I am willing to pay the $78. I realize I should have tried to find another branch to pay it off or put the money back into my account. But, they are threatening me and scaring the crap out of me. Can they have a warrant issued for my arrest? Please help me. Thank you in advance. The firm it is with now is Franklin and Ross, but they won't give me an address, and hang up on me when I call them. I told them I talked to ACE, and I don't owe $382.77. Ever since they said OK we'll see you in court and you can pay that way. Bernadette

These are typical collection tactics. Tell the person calling you that you'd like something in writing showing what you owe. If they refuse (and they will), you'll know it's a scam.
Report them to the FTC, your state's AG and the police using the number they're calling from.
If ACE says you owe $78, that's what you owe.
Do not let these people extort you by scaring the crap out of you. They cannot do anything to you and no one will come to serve you. It's an idle threat.
