My question is...what do I tell them at the bank? I need to put a hard debit on my account before friday. WHat will they ask me? The reason is...I have too many loans and it will deplete my whole pay and then some. SOme are overpaid and some are not paid at all yet, but I can't get a hold on any of this until I block my account. Will they be helpful?

You have the right under the Electronic Funds Transfer Act to cancel any and all ACH transactions. You can tell them you've had fraudulant withdrawals (which is not a lie if you're dealing with illegal payday companies) and you want to pay your bills via on-line banking or writing checks. You must do this 3 days BEFORE the withdrawals are supposed to happen. Go to your bank in person and speak to a manager (not a customer service employee). You will get quicker service in person. Quote the EFTA if you have to. If you get no satisfaction from the manager, go higher up, but do it within that 3 day window.
