Are you positive that it was the Attorney Generals office calling you and not a debt collector trying to scare you?
What is the debt for and how much? I just can't imagine the Attorney General getting involved. Maybe I'm wrong though and someone will be along to correct me.
Did you going to your states government website and finding the attorney generals number and calling to make sure it was really that office that called you.

Well I better cal,l I was so nervous when I heard Attorney, I owe my Bank for overdrafts when PDL's took funds out I couldn't pay the 923.00 not even in payments. If bank is suing me i suppose I cant get out of that one.
Thanks I'll call to find out if it's an Attorney calling to collect the Debt.

The Attorney General wouldn't be calling you to pay your debt, they have better things to do then to call people. Next time you receive a call about a debt tell them they now have 5 days to send you your dunning letter (letter of collection) in the mail, and that's a federal law, otherwise you shouldn't strike any deals or admit or deny to owing any debt on the phone, tell them you need documentation.

Yes I was just about say that if the AG is calling you, it's going to be for something serious and probably a criminal matter. The AG is not going to call on behalf of your bank (unless you were actually engaged in some sort of bank fraud, but even then you'd probabaly have a sheriff pay you a visit first).

Before you decide to that, tell us the names of your pdl's and what state you are located in, there's a possibility some of your pdl's may not be licensed, in that case I would hate for you to pay interest and fees on something you are legally required to do. Plus, if they aren't licensed lenders paying them off probably wouldn't stop them from attempting to collect even more money from you.

I'm in Texas the PDL's are Cash Central in UT, United Cash is in FL I dont have the state for DJR Group LLC nor Ace Cash. If there not licensed I dont have to pay them even after I had money deposited to my bank account?

Cash Central WERE licensed in El Paso, TX. but according to the TX licensee data base their licensed has been cancelled, therefore all you would owe them is the principal amount you borrowed to begin with, less any payments, fees or interest you may have already paid them.

None of the rest of yours are licensed, either as CSO's or payday lenders. All you are obligated to pay back any of these lenders is the principal amount you borrowed. I wouldn't pay them a penny more. Close your account asap, then CLICK HERE to find out how to deal with illegal lenders.

What's the telephone number of the "attorney general?" As others have posted, the attorney general of your State or any other State isn't going to be calling you about a PDL debt. I'm betting if you do a search of the telephone number on this site or on google that you'll find out it's a bottom-feeder collection agency.

If the office of the Attorney General Office has called me to pay on my Debt and I still cant pay the balance in full What is the next action Att.Gen will take? |
As others stated, the AG would not be calling you for a debt so minimal. Do a reverse phone number lookup as suggested above. That will square you away, also I would call the bank and try to work out a payment arrangment for the fees.

Thanks for the advice and the AG called me at work I didnt get the number just an address, but I think she was calling from an attorney's office repersenting my bank. I got scared and thought it was the AG.
I did pay Cash Central 4 payments of 101.97 that they pulled out of my account before the final payment I closed the account so they wouldnt withdrawl the 411.00 owing. I think I overpaid princial, So how can I get them to stop calling me at work. Is there a letter I can send them?

A "C&D letter" is a Cease and Desist letter used to third party collecters for minimizing or stopping phone calls to your place of employment, residence, or references. You can also send this letter to a PDL company ONLY if they are calling you at work jeapordizing your job, or harrasing your references. Originally it does not apply to the actual creditor of the debt but in this case you can try it or report the company to your job for harrasment.

A "Wage Assignment Revoke Letter" is a letter you send to the PDL company and your payroll dept informing them that you deny any voluntary attachment of debt to your wages. Meaning you may have signed a paper allowing the PDL company to send a Wage Assigment to your payroll dept. In some cases the payroll dept may process it and have the balance on the letter from the PDL deducted from your wages. It is totally voluntary and can be revoked at any time. So this is why we have the revoke letter in place to stop this from happening. If you use this send it to your payroll dept ASAP and then the PDL company. It is not a court ordered garnishment at all ;)
