OK I filed a complaint about illegal lending and collection tactics. I was told its not in their jurisdiction to deal with online payday lenders...what!? How come everyone says complain to the AG?

Because payday loans are prohibited in the state of N.J. It's all in how you word your complaint. You need to make sure the AG is aware that the lenders swindled you. They need details.

Neither the NJ Attorney General nor the NJ Department of Banking and Insurance has EVER taken action against a payday lender. If you're lucky, they may send out a form letter. Better to deal with the lenders yourself. Close your account and avoid the calls as best you can. Eventually the harassment stops on its own.
