This is what I would do, I would tell them that a letter of collection via email is not acceptable according to the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act), I would also inform them that federal law requires them to send you a dunning letter (letter of collection) in the mail 5 days after their first initial contact with you. Then, I would totally ignore their arses, unless you do receive a letter of collection at which time you can send them a debt validation letter (look at the sample letters here at this forum) through the mail with a copy of your state laws. Also make sure you send this letter certified, return receipt requested. Most likely it won't even come to that BUT, just in case. You can keep checking back here on your thread if you have further questions, this way we can follow your progress and you will have all your information in one place.
Thanks for the info. Is there any way to stop the calls?

You can send them a cease and desist contact letter, it doesn't mean they will abide by it though, obviously they have no respect for the law or they wouldn't be trying to collect on an illegal debt to begin with. I would just have my number changed if the calls become overwhelming.
