I've been getting harrasing phone calls at work about a payday loan from E Pay Day loan. This was taken out about a year ago and I haven't heard much from anyone. I live in MS and it was my understandig that they were illegal here. I have offered to pay principal only but by MO. They refused, so I refused to pay any other way. This guy named Sam Anthony is calling from Alstead Financial. He gives my HR manager's name and says that they have verified employment and I'll be sued on Friday if I dont call back. I'm sure this is all baloney but I wanted to make sure there was no shed of truth behind what they said. I've tried googling Alstead Financial and their phone number of 1-800-284-6006 but with no luck. This is SO frustrating. And embarassing, because I work in an open office and people hear me arguing with them, hanging up on them, or ignoring my phone (I have caller ID and don't answer weird numbers). Should I just ignore them?

i would first file police reports for the harrassment.then file AG,and FTC complaints.then explain that this is a scam collector to your co-workers.then feel free to ignore their sorry a$$.

One way I have handled my employer is I told them someone stole my SS# and took out loans and now they are after me to pay. My employer has been understanding about the whole thing and agreed to hang up on them . You may want to try telling them the same, also file those complaints these companies dont want the spot light on them
