From being on this board in the past I already know a little bit about what I need to do... but the 35 day grace period at chase has me stumped. I was going to close out the account and send the c & d letters- actually I dont know just what these are only that they inform the payday agencies of the need to make different arrangements- and move my direct deposit to a different account. but with the grace period chase offers the account wont really be closed... I live in Dallas, Texas. I have loans out with payday1 and ameriloan- both on line- and first cash advance and I think paydayadvance- both storefronts. ameriloan I know isnt legal- I have way overpaid them- the others I suspect are. How do I go about making these arrangements if I cant 'lock down' my chase account..? Thanks!

Go ahead and fax (and certified mail) ach revocation letters. Once they have been notified, you can dispute the unauthorized ach withdrawls with your bank. I realize there is a good bit of risk associated with that (it's based on the premise they will adhere to your revocation, after all) but it might be your best option given the circumstances. From there, you can fight with them over balances and payment arrangements.

You can also speak to your branch manager about putting a freeze on your account once your direct deposit hits--my branch manager actually offered to place a freeze and remove it long enough for me to make a withdrawl so that I would have funds--so maybe yours could too.

You have copies on this site? Thanks for your help... customer service is generally not Chase's strong point. I can try talking with the branch manager but I dont think they will be as understanding as yours... so if ach responds well and good ... but if they dont... the transactions will go thru. And at that point I will end up having to fight with both my bank and the paydays for payment arrangements I would guess... Is that right? I dont know what else to do... I am going to need access to the funds being swallowed by the payday loans... thanks again!!! If you have any other suggestions please let me know...

go to your bank. i didnt want to do it either but today i went and talked to a manager at my bank, explained my situation with the paydayloans and ach debits, he said why dont we just freeze that account and set up a new acct. i couldnt believe how easy and understanding they were. i did mention to them the last thing i wanted was a bank account with tons of nsf fees on it and how i didnt want to screw them over. you wont know until you try and hopfully your bank will be as understanding as mine was.
