I took out a payday loan from each of these companies last August. Afterwards I had to close my account because of fraudulant checks posting for online coupons and other random things. I started receving phone calls from someone who was obviously from another part of the world saying they were calling from a court house in Brooklyn NY and that I was going to have a jury trial and go to jail for not paying back these loans. I asked them to send an official notice via mail listing who the company was I owed. I never received anything but the calls never stopped. I am now receiving calls saying that I have a fraud alert on my social security number for bad checks to these same two companies. HELP HELP HELP

You didn't mention the names of the companies from where you obtained loans. Did you pay them in full before you closed your account? Payday loans are prohibited in N.Y.

A rule of thumb is, never discuss a debt to a voice over the phone, you are entitled to receiving a letter of collection via the mail within 5 days of a debt collectors initial contact with you. Please provide more info so we can help you.
