I'm in PA and I now know that PDL in this state are illegal. I took out 3 PDL in Dec. 2011 (White Hills Cash, Redstone, and Payment Direct) White Hills-borrowed $435 (paid back $652.50) Redstone-borrowed $400 (paid back 700) Payment Direct-borrowed $200 (paid back $356)
So I've closed my bank account. My bank just closed it with no questions asked. I explained that I found out the companies were illegal and they said closing the account would be just fine. Should I ask them to do something else?
I've sent the letters to all three places telling them that I was made aware that they are illegal and I'm requesting a refund of the over payment amount.
It's late so I haven't filed a complaint with the AG in PA. I will do that in the morning. Do I just tell them I overpaid an internet loan?
How long should I wait before I contact the companies again if I don't hear anything? Thank you!

Since they are illegal so you are required to pay them only the principal amount. As you have overpaid them, so you can ask them for the refund. But it entirely depends on their discretion whether or not they will refund your money.

MOD NOTE.....BLANKSPACE....DID YOU READ THE POSTERS POST?? THEY HAVE ALREADY REQUESTED A REFUND!!!!!!

I must be really tired or just dumb, but I'm on the AG website for PA and I don't see where I can file a complaint against internet payday loans.

Also...since I sent those emails last night, I have not received one call from any of them this morning. Usually I get to work and I have messages and emails from all 3 of these companies. I came in to nothing. That's a good thing right?

I will wait until Friday to email them again. I'm happy that they seem to just stop after I sent the emails out on Thursday. It's funny because I had several missed calls a day from White Hills and Payment Direct since my last pay check and then nothing at all on Friday morning and nothing this morning. It's refreshing.
If I didn't over pay by so much, I would just let it go.
I've also directed a friend to this site. He's in payday loan hell and I think he cried on the phone when I told him about this place.

I have not heard anything from Redstone at all. Not one phone call or email since I closed the account and they didn't get their money on the 15th. Maybe they will start after the 30th.

I decided to email them all again today. I went through my emails and realized I emailed them last Thursday. I was getting phone calls several times a day and then once I emailed all of them, it stopped. I have not received an email reply from White Hills, Payment Direct, or Redstone.

I was going through my emails and realized a "collections specialist" actually emailed me so I emailed a second notice directly to her.

Again, not a peep from Redstone.

Should I call the customer service numbers listed on the emails/websites?

They don't like it. They prefer phonecalls, but as you know, phonecalls don't protect you.

I would keep it at e-maling them so you have a written, time/date stamped record of the issue; one you can save as a PDF and send to the BBB and FTC as evidence to help them.
