being sued by payday loan

im got a phone call saying that i am being sued by a payday advance back from 2008. the original balance was 255 for the loan and they jacked it up to 1300 per loan. on top of that i have bank statements saying that i never dealt with them in july of 08 but they are saying that i did and i did not pay them. i did go through them in november 08 and times beofre that. i always paid them. i want to work something out but he want the money up front or he said it will go through court. he is also saying that i owe them for 2 loans making the total over 4k. i tried to look up the number and it is a toll free number that goes straight to him. im tempted to let it go to court because it doesnt match according to my bank statement. alo i never recieved a letter from him. just a phone call. if it goes to court would it be brough to ohio, which is where i live? i need advice.

Tell them to send you something in writing.
If they refuse, that just proves it's a scam.
After that, do NOT talk to them again.

ok so i was adviced by a collection agency to contact the state attorney to see if they are registered in the state to operate their business or to give laons and the state attorney said that they are not registered. what does this mean?

that the lender is illegal,and whoever called is a scammer.file a police report for the call and ignore future calls.
