I just received a call from a women stating she was a process server and was going to serve my papers at my work. She gave me a number to call 866-610-3540 the barr Group?? Not sure if that is the correct spelling. I called them and they stated they were collecting for payday loan yes. they were asking for $760.00, the original loan amount was $350.00. He said he would accept a one time payment of $410.00 if made this month or two mayment of $250.00. Are these guys legit? I do want to clear this up but i am scared to give anyone any payment info for i am scared i am going to get screwed. If someone could please help me i would really appreciate it

for one breathe.two paydayloan yes is an illegal bottomfeeder that is illegal in every way.the barr group is a bottomfeeder as well.when she calls again demand something in writing, and you will not speak to her again until you do.everything she threatened she cannot do.she must rely on empty over the top threats because she has no other way.file a ploice report for the harrassment.then file FTC,and AG complaints.again bottomfeeder that can't do a thing.do not give them a dime until they send you something.fyi they did the same thing to me.told them to go scratch.i'm still a free man,and nobody served me anything.except at my local KFC.

Is that legal in Texas? I have heard it is illegal and they can press charges.

if you haven't defaulted then you can get an EPP.(extended payment plan).they would freeze the balance and break it into 3 or four equal payments.you need to see the manager for this, and can't be in default.go in at least one day before your due date.if you have then contact the corporate office, and see about working on a payment plan.

Out of necessity (after losing 2 of my 3 jobs due to lack of work, & needing to continue to feed my children) I accumulated several payday loans (both internet and local storefront loans) earlier this year. After basically throwing away hundreds of dollars every 2 weeks paying "fees" to refinance, I learned something from my neighbor. She had payday loans locally. When the time came to refinance them she didn't have the money. They did harrass her but she told them she just simply did not have the money to refinance the loans. They eventually told her to just bring in SOME money to pay on the loans. So, instead of going in and refinancing the loans every 2 weeks she simply goes in and gives them money and pays down the loans. She does not sign papers to refinance. So, she is still paying them money every 2 weeks but is actually paying the loans off instead of just paying a finance fee every 2 weeks to extend the loans. I was shocked when I discovered this worked. I was paying hundreds of dollars every 2 weeks (refinance fees) and the loan amounts never decreased. She was paying whatever she could pay every 2 weeks and the loans were going down, AND they were not hastling her constantly. I decided it was a GREAT idea so I dicided to do exactly the same thing. Guess what; I did it too. One payday I decided not to go in & pay the fees. By the way, I did have to close out my bank account, but it was worth it. When they get your checks back listed "account closed" they will contact you. They will probably charge you a $25.00 service fee for your returned check (supposedly for their bank charging them an NSF fee), but it's still cheaper than the refinance fees. Also, your bank can't charge you a fee when you have no account. When they contacted me about the checks coming back I simply told them I didn't have the money to refinance. They just want some (any) payment on the loans. Now I go in to the loan companies, pay 30 or 40 dollars (or more if I'm able) on each payday loan, DO NOT REFINANCE, and I get a printed receipt that shows what I paid on the actual loan and the DECREASED loan balance. Even though it will take me a while to pay off all the loans, at least now I am actually PAYING OFF THE LOANS!!! I'm not suggesting everyone try this, but it is working for my neighbor and is working for me.

I've never heard of this happening but if it did, kudos to your neighbor.

you are not going to be arrested,or go to jail.most likely this loan was internet and illegal.the person broke the law with their calls.process servers do not call and demand money.besides debts are civil matters not criminal ones.just hang up on them next time.btw what #comes up on caller id?
