I live in California, and I have recently gotten myself in way over my head with 7 payday loans. I got paid today and my entire paycheck went to paying fees on these loans. I am looking in to closing my bank account and need some assistance in the best process for contacting these companies and arranging payment arrangements. I could also use any other advise that is offered. They are all from the internet:
One Step - $500 loan - paid $750 fees - $50 principle
Net Cash - $500 loan - paid $450 fees
UpFront - $500 loan - paid $150 fees
Flash - $400 loan - paid $240 fees
United - $350 loan - paid $315 fees
Ashland - $300 loans - paid $900+ fees
American Consumer - $300 loan - paid $110 fees
Thank You!

Hi sesims. Here are your state's laws regarding pdls (just select your state),

I think that closing your bank account is a good idea. When you say united, do you mean united cash loans? If so, then I can tell you for sure that they are illegal.

Hi there. I got your QM. For United Cash Loans, I think I would just pay the principal and the LEGAL interest rate for your state which is 15% of the principal. You have already paid them $315 towards your $350 loan, so by my calculation, you should owe them about $88 more dollars ($350 + $53 - $315). My guess is that the others are illegal, too. Onestep and Ashland owe you refunds. You have WAY overpaid them!! Does anyone else get the same thing as me, or am I just crazy? :-)

El-If these loans are illegal in CA, then the principal is what sesims should pay....period. I see what you mean with the interest calculation, but sesims has already been charged over the allowable finance charge limit.

Definite overpays here too.

sesims-If you can get that bank account closed, I would do it asap. Would you like a letter to send to your pdl's that tell them to cease and desist and to revoke any wage assignments?
