Were they legal lenders?
If not, I'd not worry about it.
If they were legal, I'd contact them and set up a payoff arrangement.

No definitely not legal. I live in NY. So eventually if I hear from a CA what would be your advise on only paying what the original amount borrowed. speedycashtoday.com would be 300, I haven't paid them anything. Extrafunds.com originally borrowed 300 paid 100 so far.
You may get a call from them (or some slimeball) at some point.
You may get a call from them (or some slimeball) at some point. Likely threatening jail and all kinds of nonsense.
Once you're contacted, I would simply resend (via email) your illegal lender letter, offering your repayment terms.
If they ignore you, I wouldn't worry about it.
Speedy cash
I had one with speedy cash (although I'm in TX and they are legal) and found their collections department to be very friendly and willing to work out payment arrangement. Once the account goes to collections (after one unsuccessful attempt to debit) the fees stop accruing. I made a payment arrangement to pay balance owed (in my case $1283 for a $1000 loan..they just left the one finance fee plus a $30 return payment fee) and they accepted my payment amounts and dates I was able to pay. If I wasn't able to make a payment date, I would call them and they'd reschedule without penalty. Definitely the easiest payday loan people to deal with in my opinion.
Also, it was a few months after default that I contacted them and made all the arrangements.
Oh..I just saw that you had speedycash.com and speedycashtoday.com...mine was with speedycash.com...so if it's speedycashtoday then you won't have same experience:(
