I live in Arizona. So i have paid this company well over $700 on a $200 loan. I closed my bank account in August and they are finally calling. I am not answering. They left a messaging saying they are going to start contacting my manager and my HR department. They said they have a recording of me saying they are able to take the money straight from my pay check. Can they do this? I have already conacted my HR department and I am waiting to hear back. I am freaking out. What do I do? They are an illegal company right? What action are they able to take against me? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

First under the fair 1 the payday loan company can not threaten you, calling your HR and manager. Second they would have to get a legal judgement in court to garnish your wages. The first thing you need to do is write them a letter stating to cease all contact with you, by law after they are notified of this they can not contact you, if so you do have the right to sue and they can be fined up to 1K. If you got they loan on line most of the time they are called store front pay day loan companys, they probably have no legal backing to collect a debt in this state if they are in another. Write a letter demanding proof of the debt, and a copy of collection license for the state of Arizona. Rest a little most of theses PDL's are bullies.
