hey everyone, it's the one that was on here as lazer1978 before with all this payday loan problems. I can't remember my username and password to get into my old account so I had to create a new account. Anyway I thought I was done with all of this payday loan stuff but apparently I'm not.

I did what I was told and explained to them the state laws of Virginia, where I reside, and I explained that I don't owe them anything else. I told them not to contact me unless it is by email or by postal mail.

Well today at work I got a phone call from a collector for BIG Int and he said that I owed around 600 due to interest charges on a delinquent account. I explained he was not to contact me unless it was by email or postal mail. He said he had emailed me and hadn't heard back from me so he had a right to contact me by phone. I just checked my email and I have nothing from him.

I told him not to call me at work, and I don't have anything that I owe him and hung up.

Not more than two minutes I get another phone call at work and its the same guy. He tells me not to hang up on him again and that this debt will not disappear by me hanging up.

I told him not to contact me at work again and hung up yet again. Five minutes later I get another phone call from him and he threatened me this time. He said if you dare hang up the phone on me again you will regret it. I will call your references and they will have to pay this debt for you. How do you think they will like you then?

I asked him not to call me at work again and hung up on him. By this time I was getting upset. He called back yet again and said since you like to hang up on me I'm just going to call back and talk to your boss. This debt will be coming out of your paycheck whether you like it or not and you will see that we mean buisness.

He didn't even let me finish saying not to call me at work before he hung up the phone. Bad thing is I didn't get his name or name of his company because I couldn't understand his accent.

the guy is retarded, all he can do is call.i would go into your bosse's office and explain the situation.they really can't do a thing, but call and harrass.they will call your boss and co-workers because they have no legal way to get the money.just
try not to engage him hang up without another word.

How do I know if I revoked any voluntary wage assignments? I think I did in the letter that I faxed them but not sure. They are illegal in the state of Virginia, so if they are illegal can they still garnish my wages? And I have mentioned it to one manager and she said the next time they call and I think it is them to yell for her and she will take the call for me and tell them it's against federal law to call me while I'm at work.

The guy said he was going to call my supervisor though.

you've got a manger on your side,i wouldn't worry too much.just be prepared, these dullards talked to you that one time, chances are they will persist for a week or two then move
on.again don't worry, they need a court order to garnish wages.
i have a better shot at mr.olympia than that happening.

A garnishment is different than a voluntary wage assignment. A garnishment has to be court ordered, and if it's illegal in your state, then that wouldn't be a worry. However, a lot of payday lenders have you sign voluntary wage assignments when you take out the loan. Since they are voluntary, you have to ability to revoke them whenever you want to. As long as you have done that, you should be fine. Just make sure that your payroll department knows that they have been revoked.

I wouldn't say anything to him the next time he calls, not even "Don't call me at work", you have already told him that, there's no need to say it again, and it only gives him more incentive to call you again, simply hang up without a word as soon as you know it's them calling. They can't really argue with thin air, he will tire of it eventually. I would most definitely inform your employer of the harassment though, just in case this dweeb decides to follow through with his threats.

Couldn't help but reply to this. There are specific guidelines under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act that prohibit consumer harassment at the hands of creditors. The collection agent calling you over and over again at work and threatening to talk to your boss and have your wages garnished is a classic example of harassment.

First of all, he can't contact you at work if you have told him not to.

Second, he can't garnish your wages unless he gets a judgment against you, and even then there are restrictions regarding this.

In addition to Federal laws, each state has their own laws regading Creditor behavior as as well. You should find out where your creditor is located - at least in California local creditors are governed by the both the laws in California and in the state of the consumers they are contacting. And vice versus.

I would suggest documenting the abuse and contacting an attorney. I know there are attorneys out there who are putting together class action suits against creditors regarding this.

Good luck - and don't let yourself be harassed anymore!

This guy from BIG loans name is T.J. King #877-283-6760. I just got harrassed today at my job. He threathned to call my payroll department, and my boss as well. He said my life is going to be living nightmare. He has a very bad accent, and yells throughout the whole conversation. I live in Florida, and he cannot call and harrass you on your job. I have a headache from this crazy guy just yelling.

I couldnt resist sharing this one. I too received a call from some derilict named "Tom" (supposidly) from BIG. He has been calling my office all week, even though every single time he calls i tell him that this is a business and he is breaking the law. I asked him to either email or usps my account information, including original amount of loan, how much i have paid and what (he feels) i owe. HE ABSOLUTELY REFUSED TO SEND ME ANYTHING! So being the wise guy i am said, "how can you expect to call me up and ask me for money over the phone, but flat out refuse to send me anything in writing to show what i owe? He said that i didnt need anything in writing when i borrowed the money, and therefore he would not send it, wanted to conference call my bank and i told him absolutely not.

I then went on to tell him that he was being so foolish in his request, that i was sending him the money he asked for over the phone. I paused second and then asked if he received the money, or if i needed to send it again! HA! i even got a laugh out of him for that one!

I told him that is what he sounds like to me.

These people are persistent, i mean real persistent. After me badgering him for about 10mins, he finally fessed up and said that he was calling from the UK. I explained to him that he should familiarize himself with U.S. law and the laws of the state of Florida, to which he replied that he doesnt care about those laws, only the U.K.

Again, me with my sarcasim offered while we were on the phone to give him the direct contact number of the Florida states attorney's office and he could contact them. If he was so legit, then they would support his cause and come after me, he simply hung up.

Only to have his manager contact me 2 hours later. I mean i really, really, really laid into this guy and abused him in every way i could think of (and i can be pretty crafty with that type of stuff!), but he still wanted to know how much i could pay...

Has anyone dealt with these friggin morons? How long will they keep calling? My boss wont put up with it and he and i are very close, so they are just going to get the same answer from him that they are getting from me.

How long with these people keep calling? I mean, i called this guy things that i never thought i would say, but he just keeps repeating hiimself, over and over, like a US Politician!

Someone help and let me know if you have dealt with BIG in this manner. The guys name was Tom, the other guy (manager) name was Tony Martin (of course all fo these guys are from India, or other regions in the middle east, so i am sure that Tom and Tony are not there real names. the number they gave me to contact them was 877-283-6730 x 2806.

I would be willing to take any advice that anyone has.

P.S. Lastly, they are making it literally impossible to send them this cease and desist or revokation letter, because they wont provide me with a valid email or physical address.

I feel pretty confident that they cannot do anything at all to me, not even garnish my wages, but would love some reassurance from anyone else out there. They are definitely operating illegally in both the U.S. and the state of florida.

Thanks
