I am so overwhelmed and depressed over this payday loan trap that I've gotten myself into. Totally spinning my wheels. I tried looking for these lenders that was recommended to see if any of these lenders were licensed in Texas, but can't seem to figure out where on the site to look them up.

I'm really struggling right now working full-time and I get social security survivor benefits, but that was just reduced by $420 when my oldest daughter turned 18 even though she still lives with me. I'm to the point where I'm just feeling scared and hopeless.

I closed my checking account and am now getting barraged daily with irritating calls.

One of the worst ones I'm dealing with is Husk Hawk. It was a $200 loan with $60 a month, but not touching the principal of the $200. I"m now getting constant calls from Powell Law Firm with a local number of 832-460-5023. They were very rude with me and I told them that I would only deal with the company directly. The woman couldn't even pronounce the name. I finally hung up on her and refuse to answer her calls.

Lending of pdl is legal in the state of Texas. You can get information from the Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner in order to know whether or not pdl companies are licensed in your state. Their contact detail is as follows:
Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner
Address - 2601 N. Lamar Blvd. Austin TX 78705
Phone - (512) 936-7600
Fax - (512) 936-7610

If you find that the lenders are licensed in your state, then you will have to pay both the principal and interest. Otherwise, you are required to pay only the principal amount. If you have already paid more than the principal amount to the illegal lenders, then ask them for the refund. If the lenders are licensed and you can???t payback your debts in full, then you can negotiate with them. You may try to arrange a better repayment plan with them to payoff your debts asap.

So you can't search for a lender directly through the Commission website? That's what is confusing me. I thought from some of the posts I had read that you could find out from the site.

So I would have to contact the commission directly to see if these lenders are legal?

Sorry, just very overwhelmed with debt & life lately.

Sorry to seem so dense, but who exactly do you contact? I for some reason thought that you could do a search to see if a payday lender was licensed, but when I go to the sight get very overwhelmed by all of the information. I can find the legalities, but actually just need to find out if these companies are licensed in Texas.

I also looked at the contact information, but wasn't sure which contact to email to find out about licensing.

Or would it be better to just call? Just so tired of worrying about all of this.
