PDL Help in California
Date: Tue, 06/22/2010 - 15:34
I have seen some of the great advice on these forums through various searches on the internet (I wish I had found you sooner). I currently reside in California and have the following advances I am going to have trouble repaying on the first:
Storefront:
Advance America: $300
Money Mart: $300
Online:
Checkngo: $300
Check into Cash: $300
Cash Advance (.net): $300
Any advice you can give me on how to make these manageable and get out from under their thumbs would be great. I make a good income for a single person and the only reason I have trouble making ends meet is because of these monthly payments I have to make in full and various emergencies. My brakes are worn and I need to replace them, but I can't even afford my rent with the upcoming charges and monthly payments I need to make, let alone pay for car repairs. Thanks!

Hi,
You can go for a good debt consolidation or settlement company to settle or consolidate your debts.I think they can help you, or else you can also go for a free counseling with them,if you think you will not be able to manage with the monthly charges right now, which would otherwise be incurred once you enroll yourself with a debt settlement company!

I just noticed that Money Mart isn't in the list either, so you should call them and ask if they are also members of the CFSA, which would mean you could sign up for the EPP there, also.

I will call them first thing tomorrow to see if I can get this all straightened out. After a little digging I have discovered that Money Mart is a subsidiary of Dollar Financial Group, Inc. and now all of them are part of the CFSA. Another couple of questions if you don't mind: how much more interest will these companies charge me and how long will they give me to pay this all off? Thank you for your help, I was considering taking a Credit Union personal loan to cover this and the car maintenance charge I'll get soon, but I am really hoping I won't have to after I speak to them about EPP.

Well, you have to request the EPP before you default, and according to the guidelines set forth by the CFSA the interest stops as soon as you sign up for it, you would then pay off the loan in four separate payments. So, whatever interest has accumulated (which shouldn't be more than your state law allows) between the time you acquired the loan, and when you request the EPP, that is all you would be required to pay. Keep in mind that you can only request an EPP once a year.
A brief update: I am signed up for an EPP with all 5 companies.
A brief update: I am signed up for an EPP with all 5 companies. It will be $375 a month, but that is far more manageable than the $1500 I was looking at before. I wanted to thank you again for your assistance--I will be done in four months and then I am looking at another year of being in my DMP for credit card debt and then every single penny I earn will go into my pocket!
