I have recently defaulted on 2 Internet PDLs... The collections agengy has been calling my job trying to get my payroll # so they can getthe payment out of my next check. Recently my coworker was tricked into giving them the # when they said they wanted to validate employeement. CAN THEY DO THIS???? What are the California laws on internet PDLs??? PLEASE HELP!

If you signed a clause in your contract which allowed them to attach your wages should you ever default then the answer is yes, however, the good news is a wage assignment can be revoked at any time, all you need to do is send this company a wage assignment revocation letter, then take a copy of the letter to your employer.

Make sure you follow up with the letter to your employer. Your employer must honor your request. Other than that these illegal companies can not do anything to you since they will never step foot into a court in your town. Now if a collection company starts to call you then be firm and ask for a debt validation letter from them and tell them to not call you again. Also try to mail them a request asking for a debt validation.(covering you bases). From my experience once the collection agency found out I knew my rights they closed my file with them. LOL
