Hi I have gotten myself into a terrible situation. I have 7 PDLs:

netcashusa 500 on 1/22/08 paid so far 975
oneclickcash 750 paid so far 815 bal is 390
247advances 200 paid so far 370
loanpoint(Geneva Roth/Sandpoint Capital)(2) $600 paid so far $910
fastmoney911 400 (3/29) nothing paid yet due 4/29
nls cash advance 325 on 2/4/08 paid $492.50
think cash on 1/25/08 1250 these guys have been great in not screwing me so far

I have been reading here and trying to find out about California laws at it appears have these pdls aren't operating legally in California based on what I am being charged. I CANNOT close my checking account. My husband knows nothing about any of this (and trust me, I CANNOT let him know). I'm so mad at myself for getting into this but now what? More than half of my paychecks every two weeks are being gobbled up by these greedy people. I've been sworn at, lied to, hung up on, threatened. PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND WHAT I CAN DO TO GET THESE ACCOUNTS CLOSED.

unfortunately with out closing your account, there is no way to stop them from debiting your account. If you contact them, they will assume whatever they chose and go in and take everything. Some of them are way overpaid. Think cash is am installment loan, not a pdl.
It may be hard, but you really need to close that account asap and reopen another one that you never give the number out for. If the account remains open you will be debited forever.

Well, one good thing going for you is it looks like you overpaid most of them. Someone with more experience will be by soon to give you advice. Take it from me, you have found the right place. I was in your same boat a couple months ago and thanks to the advice from these people I am well on my way to being PDL free. Just post any and all questions you have and this board will get you though it!

Yes, you really need to get the account closed or at least a hard debit block put on it! I know it is scary telling your husband, and if you really can't , maybe you could tell him there has been fraudulent activity in you account and this is why it has to be closed? I'm here in CA also. Stick with the people on this forum, they are really wonderful at helping you and it will be okay. this forum has helped me sooo much, less than 2 weeks ago, i felt completely hopeless and close to suicidal. Now, I feel that there is hope! It feels like a weight has been completely lifted from my shoulders. So just stick around and take the great advice from all of the experienced people here and you will be fine!

Does your husband not see the bank statements?

See if you bank will put a ach freeze on the account . . . That won't keep the pdl's completly from debiting, but it will help.

I'd really recommend biting the bullet and telling your husband. At least now you can tell him you are doing something about it. This is a hard situation to be going through alone, and you may really need the support of your husband.

Thanks kash...you had it right the first time and just saw that.

Then I would have to echo Kash's comments about the account...unfortunately there is no real way to get them to stop debiting.

Placing a stop payment wont work becuase they will debit under another name. Asking them to stop wont work either. :(

Well, my bank says I can file a fraudulent activity form to stop the ACHs so I will be doing that later today but can I also send a letter to these people telling them to close the accounts they gotten all they'll get or I'll report them?

And the situation with my husband, please believe me there is a lot going on that, for my own safety, I cannot tell him. No he does not see the bank statement as I balance the book.

Ok, so I have started notifying them to cease all ACH activity. I drafted a quick letter that basically says they are in violation of California law and that the loans are to be considered PIF as of today. My bank says they will do what they can to help. I can afford the Think Cash loan and, as I said, in all of this they have been great to deal with.

Laura, please do not mail them anything. As soon as they get a letter saying to ceasae all ach withdrawal they will go in and bleed you dry. They will go in and take evertyhing. You are dealing with the worse kind of people here. Sending them anything while your account open is very unsafe . Please be careful.

You have to make sure your account is protected first . . .

This may not work, but ask your bank about switching over to a new account. Ask them to link the deposits, but not the debits. That way your husband will never know, but you will at least have the old account closed.

Or. tell him that someone broke into your account and you had to close it. ID theft is prevelant, and that would be a good excuse to have to close the account.

See, these companies are sneaky with a capital S. They will do anything they can to get into your bank account. An ach block will only temporarily stop them. You've got to close the account if you ever want this to stop.

We just have to be creative here . . . . I think the ID theft story will work. Tell him there were unauthorized charges, and the bank said the account would have to be closed and a new one opened for your account safety. That way it's nothing you did wrong . . . . Would that work? If not, we can figure out something else . . . . But we have to get that account closed. Blocks and such will only work for a very short time.
