Interim Cash Ltd. - Like a bad penny...
Date: Mon, 09/24/2007 - 14:14
Today, I got a voicemail from someone named "Joe", stating that he was from Interim Cash Ltd., calling about my loan and wants to get it resolved, blah, blah... If I did not call him back by 4pm today, legal action would be taken, more blah, blah... Of course, I didn't call him back. I know he's full of it, but just wondering if anyone else on here who hasn't heard a peep from them in forever has been contacted recently. If so, how did you handle it?

I had a similiar situation with Route 66. I hadn't heard from them for almost a year, and then out of the blue they called me. I answered the phone because I wasn't expecting it to be a pdl. The guy tried to get me to settle for some obscene amount. I just kept playing with him until I got bored and hung up.
You know they can't to crap to you. You know they can't collect on the illegal debt. I would just continue to ignore them.

Goudah is correct. theese companies are so illegal that they will try anything to collect. There is nothing they can do to you except try to scare you into paying them. Whatever you do, don't get upset. Remember all it is is words

Aren't Route 66 and Interim one in the same? I'm not worried about it, just hate the fact that it's my work number they're calling. I usually answer the phone, so I can just put them in my voicemail, it's when someone else answers the phone that worries me. I know legally, they are not supposed to divulge my personal business to others, but they aren't exactly on the up and up, so who knows.

Yeah, Tiffany, they are the same company. I wish I had some advice on how to get them to not call your work number but I don't. Hopefully someone else knows the trick to that.........I like kashzan's thought, though.....tell them you are no longer employed there and to not call again!

Thanks nat, but I did that about a year ago as well as sent one via certified mail. After receiving yet another call at work today, which our branch director took while I was at lunch, I filed another complaint against them with the BBB. Seems they are going by a different name and have a different location listed with the BBB, which I discovered after doing a search based on the phone number they are leaving for me to call back on.

We'll see what happens with the complaint. I'm fairly certain they won't respond. If I can manage to answer the phone when they call back (tomorrow, I'm guessing), I will use the "She no longer works here" line.
I paid $632 on a $200 loan, so I'm not shirking a valid debt by any means.

Really?? I emailed a few times and got a response within a day or so. It really shocked me that I got a refund of $519.

How long ago was this? I didn't think they ever gave refunds, so way to go with that. I'd be happy just to get them to p** off. If you wouldn't mind, would you PM me what you emailed them? I am just curious to see how it compares to the template letter I mailed them over a year ago.

YES THEY ARE A BAD PENNY!!! They do not want to negotiate whatsoever. I just got a letter from them stating that when they "read" the contract I agreed to the laws in the UK and that I was told that they were an offshore company, which I don't recall that. I told them that I have seeked legal action and I demand their address in the UK so I can get them into a US Court. We will see how that goes.

They change their address in the UK all the time, which makes it difficult to do anything to them. They can say people who take loans from them agreed to UK laws all they want, but after living in England for almost 6 years, I know that their lending laws require the loan agreement to be provided to consumers in writing, truth in lending disclosure must be provided in writing, etc., which they do not do. So they are violating UK laws as well.
I haven't received any calls from them so far this week, but it's only Tuesday! In fact, since I filed the online complaint against them with the BBB last week, I haven't heard anything. Interesting.

Okay, an update.... a rep from this company actually responded to the complaint I filed with the BBB. He basically lied and just used a bunch of fluff to compose a lengthy response. He noted when I took the loan out and how much it was for, which I already made mention of in my complaint, and then he went on to say that they inform all customers that they are an offshore company and are governed by UK laws. I am aware of that now, but at the time I took the loan out, I was not told this, so there was a lie. He mentioned that the loans are verbal agreements, no paperwork exchanged, blah, blah.
He apologized for my being contacted at work, but said he had listened to the recordings of the calls and no illegal threats were ever made. Totally stepped around the fact that I said this happened via email, not phone calls, and was some time ago, not recently.
The response was ended by this man stating that he wanted to do whatever he could to mutually resolve this matter, and he wanted to offer a settlement of $100 as a goodwill gesture, so he would not have to pursue the matter further. Then went on to list the various ways I could pay (i.e., bank draft, wire)
Pffftttt!!! I paid over $600 on a $200 loan, and am not paying another cent. I was asked by the BBB if I accepted Interim's response, to which I responded that I do not and listed why. I advised that I was not paying anything further, that this company must follow the state laws of their customer's rather than using the "governed by UK laws" line, and that if they are not prepared to mark the account as "paid in full", I will file a complaint with my state AG's office and let them follow up with Interim. I'm curious to see what happens now.
I find it unbelievable that I haven't heard from this company in almost a year, they suddenly call me at work out of the blue, and even have the balls to respond to my BBB complaint by asking for money to settle my account when I have overpaid, yet they have issued others refunds. WTH???
reply
tiffany, good Lord! Calling you after a year. Will it never end? I, too, had a few pdls flat out lied to the BBB. I did what you did. I did not accept their "offer" or their excuses or their willingness to "resolve the matter". No. So your pdl will either respond again to the BBB (but probably not) and you can see what they say. However, what happened with mine is that the BBB closed it stating that the company (yes, the nice illegal overpaid company) made me a reasonable offer, but I refused to accept it. Fine by me. I had already filed with the FTC and my state AG. Sorry you're going through this. File with your state AG now. Especially since this was a "verbal agreement". And do not forget to file with the FTC. They are very interested in these types of pdls.

Yes, pretty much. They said that if a consumer feels a company violates any of the regulations that are set forth, suits can be filed against them, blah, blah. They made no mention of investigating the matter further, just something to the effect that they keep track.

I think I read somehwhere that the way the FTC works depends on
I think I read somehwhere that the way the FTC works depends on how many complaints they get for each company so that is one of the reasons why it is so important for us to file with them without expecting them to do anything right away.
