can they sue you in the state of california?

i made payments arrangements with them, but fell behind on the payments, Now they are saying that i owe them $993 for a $300 loan, and that I will sued in court for $3000 plus any portion of the unpaid $993.00.

my question is, can i be taken to court?

I think they are licensed in your state. To make sure you may contact with California Department of Corporations. You will have to pay both the principal and interest if they are legal lender. In this case, you may try to negotiate withy them. Legal lenders cam sue you because of non-payment of debt.

If this company is the same as Advance Cash/Advance Cash Pro, then they are an offshore illegal lender. They can't sue you and even if they do take you to court, your defense would be that the loan contract is null and void since the lender is illegally operating in the United States.
